Button Equity Scholarship

The Button Equity Scholarship exists to increase the diversity of voices and perspectives at our events—and in the field at large.

Conferences don’t just reflect the communities they represent. They actively shape them.

Our Equity Scholarship program was founded to help build a more diverse, inclusive community far beyond our few days together each year. These scholarships allow us to expand the Button audience to include people whose experiences are marginalized due to systemic oppression and exclusion.

You are welcome to apply for a scholarship if you meet one or more of these criteria:

  • You are a Black person
  • You are a person of color
  • You are an Indigenous person
  • You have a disability
  • You identify as LGBTQIA+
  • You have lost your source of income or are experiencing a financial crisis
  • You can articulate another way you are experiencing inequity

Selection criteria

We will award scholarships based on need, impact, and available funds. If we have more applications than scholarships, a diverse group of reviewers will assist in the selection process.

How to apply

We'll be accepting applications for the 2022 Button Equity Scholarship next summer. Join our mailing list to stay updated.

Tell us how we’re doing!

We aim to make Button an inclusive place, and we would love for our community to be our partners in accountability.

If you have any feedback about our scholarship process, please contact Tenessa Gemelke at tenessa.gemelke@braintraffic.com.
