In the public sector, we don’t deal in “likes” and “ratings”; we’re making sure humans have the information they need, when they need it, so they can get the support, aid, or other services that they depend upon. So how do you humanize that information?

That’s where good content design comes in: to focus and to make clear connections to the complex data, systems, and processes that humans have to engage with in order to accomplish their tasks. If that sounds familiar, it's because those challenges aren't unique to the public sector; this is true in the private sector and with non-profits.

Jordan Green talks with Kara DeFrias about her approach to content design at scale, sharing lessons gleaned from working in the Obama and Biden White Houses, and for the State of California COVID Task Force in the earliest days of the pandemic.

In this fireside chat, you will glean lessons from the public sector, and learn how to:

  • Humanize the effort, and what it looks like to design with, not for.
  • Learn and quickly pivot from a failure.
  • Lead from the back, and the the front, regardless of how big or small your organization is— regardless of what your title may be.
